Here's the requirement: On an outing, take note of the trash/garbage you produce. Before your next similar outing, decide how you can reduce, recycle, or repurpose what you bring. Then, put those plans into action and compare your results.
The video below offers ideas for reducing waste at home. You can borrow some of these idea, but you need to come up with your own ideas as well.
Here's an example Idea: On family or scout outing most of the trash comes from disposable water bottles, snack wrappers, paper plates, and individually packaged food. Before the next trip, plan to bring a refillable water bottle, reusable dishes and utensils, and snacks packed in larger containers instead of single-serving bags. You might also brings separate bags for recyclables, food waste, and trash, and save any useful containers for repurposing.
Then, compares the amount of garbage produced to your first trip, You might find that the group filled only one small trash bag instead of several. Then explains which changes worked well (and which didn't) and what could be improved on the next outing.
