You don’t need an appointment with the mayor: an alderperson, a school-board member, a village trustee, or a judge all count, and most are genuinely happy to talk to any scout who sends a email. Most will be happy to meet over a free Google Meet link or Zoom if you have it.

Our suggestion: Look up your civic leader using the link below, send a short email (there’s also a template below), and bring three questions from the question list. Afterward, jot down what surprised you — that’s exactly what a leader will ask about at sign-off. Several scouts have done this one together as a patrol visit; that’s fine, but each scout has their own conversation notes.
