Explain what a projectile is and why projectile devices demand care and approved locations

Explain the basic rules of safe gun handling for all firearms

Describe how you would react if a friend asked to see your family's firearm

Explain the need for, types, and use of eye and hearing protection

Explain main points of community and state gun ownership and use laws

Explain how hunting relates to wise use of renewable wildlife resources

Complete a state hunter education course OR explain your state's hunting laws and legally huntable wildlife

Explain proper hygienic guidelines followed while shooting

List and explain three shotgun sports; identify local places to practice and how to join

Discuss sources to contact for information on firearms and their use

Option A — Modern shotshell: parts, storage, shells, gauges, misfires, range skills, cleaning; hit 12 of 25 targets in two 25-target rounds (min 50 shots)

Option B — Muzzleloading: history, parts, black powder handling, loading, misfires, range skills, cleaning; hit 5 of 15 in each of two 15-target groups (min 30 shots)
