Explain pioneering hazards and how to prevent, mitigate, and respond

Discuss prevention/first aid: rope burns, cuts, stings, hypothermia, heat illness, sunburn, falls

Demonstrate the West Country method of whipping a rope

Tie a rope tackle plus clove hitch (two ways), butterfly knot, roundturn with two half hitches, rolling hitch

Demonstrate and explain square, diagonal, round, shear, tripod, and floor lashings

Build a Tripod Wash Station using square and tripod lashings (or approved gadget)

Build a 15-foot Scout Stave Flagpole using hitches and round lashings (or approved gadget)

Build a Simple Camp Table using shear/square/floor lashings and rope tackles (or approved gadget)

Explain synthetic vs. natural-fiber ropes: breaking strength, safe working loads, care and storage

Explain uses for back, eye, and short splices; view a demonstration of each
